About Beans for Beings
I started Beans for Beings with one simple goal: to make it easy, exciting, and delicious to eat beans.
Beans and hummus have been staples in my diet ever since I adopted a plant-based lifestyle nearly a decade ago. Wanting to avoid processed vegan meats, I relied on canned beans and hummus as a natural, whole-food way to meet my protein and fiber needs. Truthfully, I was never all that excited about beans—I didn’t love their texture or flavor—but I kept eating them for the health benefits.
This all changed when I discovered Rancho Gordo’s heirloom beans. The first time I tasted their creamy, tender, flavorful beans, I was blown away—I couldn’t believe beans could taste that good. From that moment on, I became obsessed with cooking beans from scratch and experimenting with new flavor profiles. I learned there are thousands of bean varieties (far beyond the few we see at the grocery store) and that they’re among the most versatile, sustainable, and nutrient-dense foods on the planet. As I ate more beans, my energy soared, my digestion improved, and I felt stronger than ever.
While I loved cooking beans from scratch, I found myself needing something quicker on busy days. I was tired of canned beans and bored with basic hummus, and I kept wondering: why is chickpea hummus the only bean dip on the market? There are so many amazing beans out there with unique flavors—why weren’t they being showcased in the same way?
With those questions in mind, I started blending my own dips using different beans and bold flavor combinations. After sharing my homemade Rosemary Garlic Cannellini Bean Dip with friends and family and seeing their reactions, I knew I had something special.
My mission became clear—to help people fall in love with eating beans through delicious, flavorful, nutrient-dense dips.
From there, I dove deep. I enrolled at the Institute of Culinary Education in their Plant-Based Culinary Arts Program, tested hundreds of dip variations, and immersed myself in the world of beans. I learned how truly incredible beans are—not just for personal health, but for the planet. A cornerstone of every Blue Zone diet (the regions with the highest number of centenarians), beans are also powerhouses for fiber, protein, B vitamins, iron, magnesium, and selenium. They improve digestion, stabilize blood sugar, lower cholesterol, and even enrich the soil by fixing nitrogen.
In short: Beans really are the magical fruit.
I crafted three signature flavors—Spicy Jalapeño Black Bean, Rosemary Garlic Cannellini Bean, and Zesty Beet Navy Bean—not just to support your health, but to taste truly fantastic. Whether you're pairing them with crackers and veggies or adding them to wraps, bowls, tacos, or salads, these dips are truly designed to help you thrive.
I hope each bite leaves you feeling nourished, energized, and a little more in love with these magical beans.
